< I Am Sam > is definitely a grieving and even more heartwarming movie, which makes me cried and cried again regardless of how many time I've been watching it. Sam Dawson (Sean Penn) as a retarded single father who fights for the custody of his precocious 7-year-old daughter Lucy ( Dakota Fanning ). Despite Sam is a man with developmental disability, he provides a caring & loving environment for Lucy since she was born. Sam has been going through plenty of obstacles and foolishness to raise Lucy all the way, which brings lots of laughters and tears to both of them anyway.

< I Am Sam > movie trailer..

Sam tries to raise Lucy as a single father following the abandonment by Lucy's mother, sometimes thing turns out contrary to the way he wishes, Sam, a man with a developmental disability has his life turning upside-down at the beginning. Sam nevertheless is well-adjusted with a supportive group of friends with developmental disability, as well as a kind agoraphobic neighbor Annie who takes care of Lucy when Sam cannot.

Sam & Lucy had a very good time spending together before Lucy surpasses Sam's mental ability, and the difficulty begins...

Lucy, who soon surpasses Sam's mental ability and starts to refuse learning at school since then, in order to remain the circumstance between she and her retarded father, who has gradually can't read some new characters in Lucy's textbook which he did everyday before Lucy went to bed ever since she was a baby. In this matter, a social worker turns up and takes Lucy away from Sam in order to arrange for a custody case.

Sam, who has been convinced by the opposing counsel at the trial, he is not capable of being a father. Lucy, who resides in a foster family nevertheless continually escapes in the middle of the night to go back to Sam's apartment, whereupon he immediately returns her. Ultimately the foster family who planned to adopt Lucy is aroused by their love & faith, decide to return her to Sam. This movie has brought both laughters and tears to me, it positively to show us Love is everywhere, it does exit regardless of race, age or mental conditions.. Please prepare a tissue beforehand if you wanna watch it, I always started to cry within the first 5 minutes the movie begins ( In fact I've watched it approximately 4 times, yet feel enormously grieved each time watching it ) :-(
