.....Continued from < Route To Milford Sound 6: Mirror Lake >
After a stop at Mirror Lake , we kept moving toward to Milford Sound. And Homer Tunnel is the very way we must pass through, linking Milford Sound, Te Anau & Queenstown, by piercing the Main Divide (which forms the boundary between the Canterbury and Wet Coast Regions ) at the Homer Saddle. The entire road along the Homer Region is extremely danger with it rugged, slopped and steep terrain. In fact, there were many tragic accidents happened to vehicle drivers as well as climbers, who, slipped and fell to death from the Homer Ridge. Therefore those who wanna get through the path to Milford Sound are better comply with the rules given, for instance, the vehicle has to be installed the snow chains in certain weather to get rid of slippery icy road surface, and do not access to the region during the terrible condition of weather. Apart from that, strictly do not stop the vehicles on the entirely journey to get rid of avalanche. The atmospheric conditions are definitely unpredictable sometimes. Nevertheless the vista en route is amazingly breathtaking.
A spectacular view of Homer Saddle during winter, contrasts between both snow white and dark rock, I wasn't quite enough taking photos of it, heavenly scenery...
